Kayaking the Outer Banks

Outer Banks rentalsNags Head is one of the most popular spots on the Outer Banks. This barrier island has been developed for vacationers, but it has not lost its age-old charm. The seemingly endless Atlantic beaches still stretch over the horizon. The sound and its natural wonders have basically remained untouched. Both the ocean and the sound are always there to be explored. Kayaking the Outer Banks may be the best way to explore it all starting out the front door of our Outer Banks rentals.

Nestled between the sand dunes on the sound side, the woods at Nags Head are a natural jewel. You can visit this area from the water — sail, canoe or better yet kayak to it. Ocean side, you can kayak just about anywhere if you are up to the challenge. Run up into the waves and parallel the beach looking for the occasional dolphin school or coast back on a breaker, edging left or right to keep your nose out of the water.

On the sound there are salt marches, islands and primitive wooded places full of wondrous things to see. Just about anywhere on the sound is a good place for kayaking. It is great exercise and kayaking here is an unforgettable experience.

If bringing your own kayak is not convenient you can rent one just about anywhere near our Outer Banks rentals. Kayaks are inexpensive to rent and you can even have them delivered to your Outer Banks rentals or wherever you plan to launch into the water.

Kayak tours are fun and the tour company will supply everything you need. They will provide a guide that will know where all the best places are and take you to them. Never tried kayaking? It’s time to give it a try!

Holiday Traveling with Kids

North Carolina beach vacationsIt’s always an exciting time as the holiday season approaches, especially so if you have children. Preparing to travel as a family during this time fills some with trepidation but North Carolina beach vacations can go very smoothly for those who have planned ahead. Here are some tips for helping with your family’s holiday travel plans:

1. Allow your kids to help with the plans

Traveling with children can be challenging. Order brochures from the Chamber of Commerce ahead of time so they can read (or look at pictures) about where they’re going. It will make them feel more involved in the plans.

2. Design your trip for the whole family

Check online for companies that offer North Carolina beach vacations specifically for families. Talk with your children about what they most want to do to make sure the trip you are planning suits everyone. Consider amenities that we provide for those on North Carolina beach vacations — amenities like indoor/outdoor pools, lazy rivers, kiddie pools and DVDs.

3. Learn about your destination

Go online and study about the location you will be visiting. Look for events and special activities taking place while you’re in the area and make a point to attend.

4. What to pack for your trip

Pack only the things that are necessary for your visit to North Carolina, not forgetting the time spent traveling. Snacks, books, lap games, DVDs, are all things to make the travel time more pleasurable. If you have a long drive, leave an hour or so before the children’s bed time or head out early while they’re more likely to go back to sleep in the car.

Thanksgiving in a Vacation Home Rental

Outer Banks vacation homesWhen loved ones gather from near and far for the annual November reunion and feast, consider how awesome it would be to come together in one of the many Outer Banks vacation homes. As much as you aim to please, it would be so nice for a change for everyone to chip in a little money for a comfy, spacious accommodation. You’ll be the hero of the holidays for this brilliant and refreshing idea!

If your family is exceptionally large, consider booking two Outer Banks vacation homes right next to each other. Making your mom or dad stay in a hotel seems a cold and expensive thing to do; instead, make your parents feel at home when they come to visit you.

If you opt for a cleaning service in your vacation rental contract, you and your family members need not worry about spilling a little cider or clearing away piled-high dishes. Best of all, when you prepare the turkey dinner with all the trimmings, you can do it in someone else’s big, fully-stocked kitchen, which just might be a whole lot bigger than your own.

Do the football fans expect to watch the game? Rent a home with a huge, wide screen TV! Will lots of kids join in on the festivities? Find a vacation rental with a pool table and gaming system.

Outer Banks vacation homes will fit everyone’s needs and very likely will offer more comfort than even your own home would!

Check Out Our Outer Bank Vacation Homes

Outer Banks vacation homesThe area that makes up the Outer Banks is separated from the mainland of North Carolina by a narrow strip of water. There are many Outer Banks vacation homes available for anyone looking for a rental.

The northernmost accessible town on the Outer Banks, Corolla has seen rapid development over the past 15 years. Today, multimillion dollar Outer Banks vacation homes dwarf the village proper and make Corolla one of the most desirable upscale vacation destinations in the country. Ironically, it was the opening of the road that eventually led to the relocation of one of Corolla’s most famous attractions, the wild ponies.

Outer Banks vacation homesLarge waterfront estates with several bedrooms, private pools and beaches are available to rent through the owners or designated rental agencies. Among the grandest Outer Banks vacation homes are the isolated private estates that can only be accessed via four wheel drive vehicles.
